What a fiduciary can do

One person you trust can take on one of these roles, or several.

Trustee

Manages what is held in a trust and follows the trust's own instructions, for the people it was set up to benefit.

Conservator

Appointed by a court to look after an adult who can no longer fully manage their own care, money, or both.

Guardian

Appointed by a court to look after a child's well-being or property when the parents can't.

Executor

Settles an estate after a death: gathers what the person owned, pays final bills and passes on the rest as the will says.

Agent under a power of attorney

Acts for someone, within the powers that person signed over, while they are still living.

“Care for the person, keep the papers in order, and answer for both.”

The heart of PFAC's Code of Conduct, in our words

A license is the start, not the finish.

PFAC is where California's fiduciaries keep learning and stay connected: Fiduciary Academy courses, regional meetings and a yearly conference.

32nd Annual Conference

May 12 to 15, 2027, in San Diego. In person and online.

Fiduciary Academy

Courses on standards of practice and ethics, now also as a subscription.

Membership

For fiduciaries, students, retirees and the businesses that serve them.
